  • Defining Customer Costs Associated with UPC Changes
    Confidential survey of eleven CPG executives quantified activity costs for four customer channels resulting from new item launches and product changes. The results were used in negotiations with the client’s customers.

  • The Future of Frontend Merchandising
    A multi-sponsor design project for a national supermarket chain defined a renewable category improvement process for checkstand merchandising that can be used across all of the retailer’s divisions.

  • Register Area Visi-cooler Merchandising Study with 7-Eleven
    A controlled-store merchandising study with consumer intercepts in two markets quantified $1 million annual sales from near register placement of visi-coolers.

  • Documenting Unit Load Compliance with GMA Guidelines
    Confidential survey of nine CPG manufacturers supported client manufacturer's new unit load policy initiative.

  • Carbonated Beverages Category Merchandising Test with Ukrops
    A controlled-store merchandising test and consumer intercept study of three in-aisle shelf layouts defined which one consumers liked and which was highest in sales.

  • Themed DSD Displays & POS Material
    Documented insights and observations from eight supermarket operators and Route Business Managers in three markets about how to improve utilization of POP material.

  • Revitalizing the Snack Food Selection at Wal-Mart
    Identified consumer perceptions of a stand-alone merchandising. Found most shoppers liked the new merchandising approach, encouraging Wal-Mart to adopt it.

  • Books R Us Merchandising and Replenishment System
    A closed-loop replenishment system, driven by store-specific planograms and sales data was designed and tested with Toys R Us. Found sales multiplied and other discounters embraced the program. Contributed to the client’s acquisition.

  • Variety or Duplication: A Process to Know Where You Stand
    The definitive pre-ECR SKU rationalization study for FMI involved Cub Foods, Pathmark, and Bi-Lo in a multi-market controlled-store test of six categories where SKUs were reduced using a consumer-defined process for identifying non-unique items. The process remains valid and viable today
